* Requirements *

CHKDSK and CHKDSKG are extensions, which allows to start the Windows utility "AUTOCHK.EXE". NTFS4DOS searches all available installations of Windows for the presence of "AUTOCHK.EXE".

If NTFS4DOS doesn't find the Windows tool the hard disks can't be checked or repaired. You can solve this the following way:

- On any local partition create a new folder (i.e. the folder AUTOCHK).

- create a subfolder with the name "SYSTEM32"

- copy the file AUTOCHK.EXE from any other Windows-Installation into the SYSTEM32-subfolder

- Try again to start CIACHK.

Differences between CHKDSK and CHKDSKG:

While CHKDSK is a pure command-line tool that tries to repair any found partition automatically CHKDSKG is a GUI-tool for the experienced user. With CHKDSKG it is possible to scan and to scan/repair single volumes.
